Choosing decorative stone for a design

Choose decorative stone as part of the complete architectural space. Compare texture, colour, piece size and joints with the floor, lighting and adjacent materials. A small sample does not always show the effect of a repeated pattern, so an installed mock-up can make the final appearance and workmanship clearer.

Before ordering, establish whether the location is inside or outside and confirm the substrate and fixing method. Approve the real colour and texture with a physical sample. Include cutting allowance, corners and details around doors and windows in the quantity estimate.

Check how the finish will be cleaned and how damaged pieces could be replaced. Record the approved sample and order specification so that delivery can be checked against the same reference.
